Neutering - is it important?

Yes, very.  Male and female kittens should be neutered at six months.  However, cats can be neutered at any age - they are never too old for the operation.  It is untrue that it is best for female cats to have a first litter.  It is best for a female to be spayed at six months to prevent unwanted kittens being born.  A female cat at six months is not old enough to have a litter, and it could prove dangerous for her.  Un-neutered males may stray and will want to stay out at night.  Both are more likely to wander, and they are in danger from traffic.  Neutered cats live longer and are less likely to stray.

These are just a few short excepts from the book and there are more than 150 sections in total!
