Diarrhoea

Diarrhoea in kittens is usually caused by incorrect feeding, and is one the most common reasons for kittens needing to see a vet.  Kittens should not leave their mother until they are 8-9 weeks old.  They should be given four small meals split up over the day, allowing them to eat their fill and varying the food as much as possible.  They will enjoy eating boiled white fish and chicken finely minced, scrambled eggs and baby foods.  Make sure that a bowl of water is always provided.  They should never be given adult tinned cat food or milk, as these are too heavy for them to digest and will give them diarrhoea.  if the diarrhoea is severe then the kitten must be taken to a vet immediately as kittens can quickly become dehydrated which can be life-threatening.

These are just a few short excepts from the book and there are more than 150 sections in total!
